Öveds Polo Club
Öveds Polo Club is a welcoming and family‑oriented polo community in southern Sweden, dedicated to promoting both the sport of polo and high‑quality horsemanship. We value team spirit, skill development, and creating an enjoyable environment for riders of all levels.
About the Club
Our facilities include a smaller polo field, an outdoor riding arena, and a wooden practice horse designed to help players improve their swing technique. We also offer a gallop track and extensive riding and hiking trails that provide endless opportunities to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside.
Öveds Polo Club is located on a small farm and is built on a foundation of inclusiveness—everyone is welcome, from beginners to experienced players.
Location
The club is situated near the historic Övedskloster estate, approximately 7 km outside Sjöbo in southern Sweden.
Try Out Polo
We offer Polo Intro Sessions for anyone interested in experiencing this exciting and dynamic sport. No prior riding or polo experience is required—our sessions are tailored to each participant’s individual skills and comfort level.
About the Polo Intro
A Polo Intro can be booked for individuals or groups of up to four participants.
Each session lasts approximately 1.5 hours and includes:
- Introduction to the basics of polo
- Safety and riding guidance
- Swing technique on our wooden practice horse
- Practical riding on a polo pony and hitting exercises from the horseback
Who Can Play Polo
At Öveds Polo Club, we curate a refined polo experience for discerning riders. While our community is warm and welcoming, we are not a riding school. To ensure the highest standards of safety, elegance, and sport, foundational riding competence is required for membership and play.
For those who wish to elevate their seat and style before joining chukkas, we recommend refreshing your riding skills in advance. This ensures you can fully enjoy the rhythm, precision, and membership at Öveds Polo.
The Polo Ponies
At Öveds Polo Club, we take great pride in our horsemanship. Our ponies are carefully trained, well‑mannered, and selected for their reliability, making them ideal partners for both beginners and experienced riders. Their calm temperament and high level of schooling ensure a safe, enjoyable, and confidence‑building experience during all Polo Intro sessions and club activities.
